  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is it possible to put the Genesis on jack stands? I can only find four jacking points and they seem too small/narrow for a jack and jack stand. Thanks for your reply.

This doesn't seem to be an issue, as I have used jack stands without problem.

I use the same 3 ton torin jack stands, no problem jacking the jenny up.
Also use jack pads to lift the car in the air using frame rails, then sit the jack stands on the pinch welds:

I was wondering about jack points also. So TJ the pictures are good and I can see exactly where you placed the jack and stands. You have NO damage? Is the "pinch" weld or the metal around the weld damaged from the weight of the car?

TJ looks like you still have the Dunlaps installed...a much maligned tire. The tire is probably better then we, the forum group, give it credit for. I think we are unhappy with the suspension and its kind of easy to blame (and change) the tires. I once had to "lock it up" on the interstate at 75 mph and the stiff/noisy Dunlaps stopped like champs!

No damage to the side rocker panels or pinch welds, but I am using pads for the jack and pads for the jack stands, although I have some other jacks stands with no pads and they don't damage the pinch welds either. In terms of where to place the jack, there is metal all along in between the plastic rocker panel and plastic undercarriage, make sure to get right in between the two.
I also use 2 jacks, so the weight is being distributed more evenly. Use caution. You can also use the factory jack.

I don't hate the Dunlops as much as others, but I also don't drive in the snow and I have had the tires balanced and rotated regularly at 7500 mile intervals. I am pushing 30k miles and they are at about 4/32, at 3/32 is when you should really swap them. The tires are very grippy and behave more like summer tires, which is what I prefer since my other two cars also have summer tires only.

Thanks all for the excellent pictures and advice. My mind is now set at ease as to where to jack and put jack stands. I need to rotate my tires and you guys have come to the rescue. Thanks again.
