  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Every once in a while my welcome screen will hang (no reverse camera, no A/V contraols). I'm just stuck with the "GENESIS" logo. Tried to restart the car to reset, same deal. Then, then next time I start the car all is well. What up with that?

I have read in previous articles that you can reset the system by pressing the volume control knob on the lexicon system and holding it in for 10 seconds. I have not verified this but maybe you could give it a try.

I'm not sure where the root cause lies for your problem, but the system doesn't really reset when you turn the car off and then on again. It remains powered for some number of seconds or minutes after it appears to be off. It's not surprising that the problem would remedy itself after the car is left off for a number of minutes.

Seems if you go out the car, lock the car with key fob then unlock with key fob, open the door and turn car back on seems to work. System seems to start booting once you open the door.

It is noted in the other linked threads, but this issue is very specific ONLY to the PREMIUM PACKAGE WITH TOUCHSCREEN NAV. equipped cars.

There are other electronic/software issues out there in the tech package equipped cars, but the "freezing" of the touchscreen navigation system with the H logo is what is being referred to here...

It is characterized as follows:

1. Blue flying H logo on screen after engine start.
2. Radio functions normally (but no display of radio info).
3. Backup camera does NOT function in reverse.
4. Pushing PHONE button shows a blue banner that reads "Bluetooth Initializing"

Other observations:

Pressing and holding the ON/OFF button has NEVER reset the system in my case.

Rarely, the system will get past the frozen screen after several minutes on it's own.

Rarely does stopping and restarting clear it up.

Seems more prevalent when my wife uses the car where she is out of it for 10-30 minutes and then gets back in. Never seems to happen after the cars has sat for a few hours or overnight.

It seems to reduce the likelihood of occurrence if you wait until the system has "booted up" fully before putting the car in gear, but it does not eliminate the issue.

I have a 2011 Genesis 3.8 V6 Premium Package. The screen would freeze summer/fall/winter. I was able most of the time to control the radio/XM but with a black screen. Dealer Service replaced the head unit 3 times. Apparently the black box "control unit" has to match the head unit (serialized) otherwise they don't talk properly to each other. My issue was resolved about 4 weeks ago (temp -10 degrees C) and is still working well at +20 degrees C. Whenever I get the Genesis logo on the screen now it is there for about 5 seconds max before swithching to AV/nav/radio. If you get the unit changed make sure that the dealer advises Sirius of the new radio ID to ensure that your satellite radio service doesn't cease.

My wife had this problem in her car and I found that the problem was that the 'back' button on the controller was stuck in the down position. Once I freed it everything worked normally.
