I us ordered my V8 genesis and cant wait to get it. I love the look of the genesis wheels inserts that have been shown on the V6 wheels.

Are there any that will work on the V8 stock wheels?

Thanks - Ed

Here is a recent response (10/20) from KAI:

"Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, at the moment there are no
v8 Genesis wheel center caps in production. We deal directly with the
plant that makes all the factory Genesis items.

We do not know if a wheel center cap will be made available. If or when
the set of v8 wheel center caps are produced they will be uploaded to our
website.

Please continue to check back with our online catalog."

I just sent an e-mail to another Hyundai parts supplier located in Korea asking them the same question. I'll post their reply when I get it!

I thought the 4.6 comes with standard 18' alloy rims? I've read in other post that ppl prefer the 3.8 because of the 18' rims which makes it easier to install the custom caps. I'm confused...my 4.6 is on its way and would like to know the difference between the 3.8 and 4.6 18' alloy rims so I can order the genesis caps.

The difference between the 3.8 18" and the 4.6 18" is that the 3.8 has a 9 spoke design and the 4.6 has a 7 spoke design. The 3.8 center cap is basically flat and the 4.6 center cap has the spoke design continuing into the cap.

I just got back my answer from the Korean supplier:

'No 4.6 "wing" caps at this time since the 4.6 18" wheels are exclusive to the US market'.

Oh well I hope that some after market suppliers are monitoring this site! This would be a great product to make!

I was told the following by an Ebay retailer referring whether the 3.8 caps will fit the 4.6 wheels:

"They will fit both wheels but since 4.6 wheels are concave shape it may not look right. But they fit."

There are two sets of 3.8 caps. To which was he referring?

Welcome aboard, emdoller! Thank you for signing up and congratulations on your new Hyundai Genesis! When you GET it, post some pictures. Okay?

Will do!! I ordered the 4.6 white with tech package.

I will have all the side windows and rear tinted to 35%. I plan on putting the genesis emblem on the back only for now and am looking for after market 19 or 20" wheels... need to get the offset of the stock 18"'s to figure out what options I have. I hope to have my car in about 6 weeks but I can't wait!

Hello All,

If you have not found the center caps for the 18" rims on the 4.6 Geneisi I have a site where I ordered mine from:

KoreanAutoImports.com

They are flat and do not have the wave of the spokes like the rim. But personally I like the new look it gives the rims and definitely the way it compliments my Black Noir 4.6 Genesis...!

I saw a picture either on this site or the genesis owners site (experiencegenesis.com) with the 3.8 18" caps on the 4.6 wheels and I thought it looked pretty nice - at least in the pictures.

I was actually looking pretty hard for wing insert caps that would work on my V8. Unfortunately, the OEM V8 wheel lug cap is a single, molded piece. There is no aftermarket cap that can easily be retrofitted.

On the positive side, I measured the the V6 wing replacement insert (just the center cap). From what I could determine, it should be possible to cut out the center "H" emblem if you have a dremel tool and a steady hand. The standard V6 could then be easily glued in place.

As for me, I went for some new wheels while reusing the tires that came with the car. I got a killer deal from Tirerack.com on some lightweight Kosei wheels. The Kosei's weight 17 lbs. as opposed to the original wheels which weighed in at ~24.5 lbs. each. My new wheels actually seem to improve my performance, but I do have a good imagination :-)

Emdoller,
These are in fact the same exact size as the center cap section on the V-8 wheel center cap with the ruffled edges. I bought a set of four on Ebay and used them to replace the flying "H" on my own V-8 center caps. The result was exactly what KAI is selling for $295 bucks! It is a bit tricky to accomplish but really not that hard to do. I didn't document the process but can definitely tell you how I accomplished it.

1st I used some of the bubble wrap as an insulator against the V-8 center cap and slowing pryed the flying "H" cap off of the center cap using a standard pocket knife. The bubble wrap prevented damage to the surface of the center cap so ensure it is securely in place...I completed this on all four.

2nd I used the edge of the blade to begin prying the Genesis cap away from the plastic center mount of the V-6 cap. Once I was able to get a small opening, I inserted the blade between the two and carefully made my way around the edge of the cap to pry it away from the plastic center...(BE CAREFUL NOT TO PUNCTURE THE GENESIS CAP WITH THE KNIFE TIP). Between the two caps you will most likely have an undamaged piece of the circular 3M mounting tape for re-applying the V-6 Genesis cap you removed to the V-8 Center Cap center mounting surface. Don' worry if the V-6 GENESIS cap shape gets a bit distorted during the process because it can easily be reshaped and formed. Make sure you have a nice flat piece of 3M mounting tape applied to either the under-side of the GENESIS cap or the center of the V-8 center cap and press and apply into place....that is all it takes.

Don't rush it, just take your time and the finished product will definitely surprise you. By the way, if anyone is in need of (4) of the larger V-6 GENESIS Center Caps I have a set in great condition for a reasonable price.:D

Emdoller,
do you have photos? I would sure like to see your finished results up close!

Well as promised here are a couple of pics showing my original Hyundai V-8 center caps that I converted to Genesis V-8 caps by using the V-6 Genesis center caps. They came out excellent and to my surprise exactly like those sold by KAI for nearly $300 bucks or so! Not too shabby if I must say so myself...As I mentioned in my previous post, the two caps are identical in size and fit without any problem. It just takes some patience and a steady hand to pull it off!
