Sensors fix pulling !

Hi guys just a happy camper that my dealer fixed my pulling with replaceing some sensors ! I had to hold my wheel all the time and keep adjusting it so car would go straight.... NOW I CAN DRIVE WITH NO HANDS !!! JUST LIKE A ROCK !!! I keeo seeing things about some cars pulling and they think it's tires etc. .........well nope with this car you also need to have dealer check the sensors !!!! IF ANYBODY NEEDS THE NAME OF THE SENSOR I CAN ASK MY DEALER JUST LET ME KNOW !

Good to know, however my pulling problem started the first mile on new tires. So if someone has NOT had new tires installed and the alignment is correct then it may be bad sensors on the V8, is that right?
 
I assume you are referring to the TPMS sensors on the wheels?
 
not sure what they are called but my car from day one was pulling and after 4 times to the dealer I was returning the car for a refund ! and after checking everything they fixed it and told me it was 4 sensors -----that's all I know BUT IT WORKED !

Ikeym, would you mind looking on your receipt for the service in question, and tell us which sensor(s) were replaced. It might be a great help for a lot of us with similar problems. Thank you, and glad to hear you could get your continual problem fixed.

4 sensors = TPMS

But I would also love to know for sure :)
 
TPMS sensors monitor the air pressure and are not physically attached to anything except the rim valve stem. I think it would have to be sensors regarding the electro hydraulic power steering on the 4.6.
 
This very well could be a problem. I took my winter wheels (no TPMS) off and noticed the pulling again this spring. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if the sensors are throwing off balance, and causing pull.

A tire out of balance may cause a vibration but not a pull. What you discribed tells me that you have at least one defective tire causing a pull since it did not do it until you put on different tires. A tire that causes a pull to the left or right will not look different to the naked eye and can be in perfect balance. I saw this numerous times during my four years with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.

after driving this car for a week i have determined that what i believe alot of you are feeling is just crown sensitivity. on flat surfaces my car tracks true, but on a road with a steep crown it will go to the low side (left lane - left right lane - right, etc.) just the nature of big wheels, low profile tires and a sport tuned suspension. i was in a 2011 cts-v the other day and it was doing the same thing (although that car has the magnetic ride and is fast(er).

Any signs of uneven or excessive brake pad wear? Perhaps one of the anti-lock wheel speed sensors was flaky - the ABS sensors are used by the Electronic Stability Control system too. That's how it senses a wheel "peeling out" and/or differential wheel speeds that indicate skidding, spinning out, etc. I haven't studied the details of the ESC system to know if the Genesis can apply one brake at a time to control a skid like other ESC systems do... or if all it knows how to do is cut engine power excessively. If it can do one brake only, an ABS sensor that reads too-slow makes the car think it's spinning and the ESC will apply or or both brakes on the opposite side of the vehicle to help stabilize it.

For me at least this is definitely not the crown causing the pull. It is a strong pull, and the pull is only noticed with the OEM wheels/tires. With my blizzaks/winter wheels I did not have the pulling.

As said earlier, your problem is most likely a factory defect in one or two tires. Have the Hyundai dealer rotate the OE tires to different positions or go to Dunlop tire dealer and have them do the rotating. It first should be done on side then test drive then the other side and test drive. If no change then swap sides with front tires and repeat first steps. When swaping sides and there is a bad tire and it is not a directional tread then the pull will be transfered to the opposit direction.

I plan to do the rotations myself, I'm waiting for some free time.

goto highly reputable alignment shop and have it checked. mine was out and i didn't even know it! went in for the wheel resting off center slightly (could've lived with it but figured it should be checked, glad i did). check the thread i just made in this section.

If it was alignment, then it would happen with both sets of tires.

i agree. maybe it is still happening just to a lesser degree with the other tires.

would still have it checked as i stated before i didn't even know my car was out as it tracked straight (from what i coud tell).

Yes.

WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE SENSOR?? Is there a part# you can supply, dealer name, delealer phone#, tech name, etc......

Two alignments, going on a third set of new tires in two months to see if it's a tire issue, and numerous rotations and air pressure settings and I've had it with the right pull on my 2011 4.6.

This is my last chance (laughing hysterically like a madman)!:D

I had a similar problem with my 2009 Genesis a few years ago. It was one of the anti-lock braking sensors. It was constantly pumping one of the front brakes causing it to pull to one side. It was not at all difficult to diagnose. It was fixed under warranty. I could feel it constantly pulsing.

I will be visiting my dealer for the brake fluid change, seat cover sagging, and will ask about the sensor. Jeez whats next?:rolleyes:
