Just wondering.

If I were to own this car, I would use synthetic anyway. But is it required to use Synthetic engine oil on the V6 and/or V8?

It's not synthetic oil, according to the dealership I purchased mine from. You can run it, if you wish, but make sure you tell them, when you go for an oil change, and be prepared to pay more.

Unless you do the oil change yourself, of course

And if you run synthetic, it's a (you know what) to go back

I took delivery last week and have ask the dealer and done as much research as I can. I traded in a 2006 Hemi Charger and have always been a believer in Mobile 1 and that is all I have used in my last two cars as I have also with my Cycle. The dealer says they use 10-30 blend but did not say what brand. The service manager says that with a warrenty of 100,000 they would have made an issue if it was necessary to use one of the high tech oils. I think we will agree that engine oil is the life of your product, however new oils are so well produced that there is no reason to spend the extra money that synth cost if you are going to change oil as recomended. I know there are arguments on both sides but I truely think any good oil will serve you unless you are under some extreme conditions.

I say this on every forum: Synthetic oil is not magic. It won't do anything regular oil won't do. It's just more robust and capable of more extreme operating conditions, whether that's high temps or extended oil change intervals.

There's no problem with switching between the two either. Synthetic is no more "liquid" than the same weight conventional oil and it does not cause leaks. You could alternate between each fill and there would be no compatibility issues.

There is really no con to running synthetic except price, and I doubt anyone buying a decent car would care about the difference. I run only synthetic in my car (modified turbo) and my truck (stock Dodge Hemi) and it's all I'll ever run. Odds are good that a regular change using conventional oil would be fine but why not run synthetic and be sure everything is good?

In a related topic, can someone say how often the oil should be changed. The manual says 3500 miles, but the Hyundai owner web site says 7500 miles. Which is correct?

Love your screen name

My advice: when your car is requesting it.

I'm a very firm believe of Amsoil and Mobil 1. I wouldn't use anything else. Someday, when I own the V8 Genesis, I will take out the original oil at 500 miles and use Amsoil with a Hyundai filter.
