Shifter Knob Removal
I cannot figure out how to remove the shifter knob. I looked in the shop manual and it showed a pic of the shifter knob with an up arrow? I tried pulling but it would not come off.
Thanks.

Re: Shifter Knob Removal
try this, you may have to unscrew it first, counterclockwise, just a guess.

Re: Shifter Knob Removal
About three months ago, I posted information on how I removed the shift knob using a simple wooden lever. Due to the cramped postion, one cannot apply sufficient upward force to the knob without some kind of tool. While the manual indicates that one just pulls up on the knob, it doesn't mention that considerable force is needed. Once the knob is removed, you'll note that it's held onto the grooved shaft using an internal spring clip in the knob. The good news is that putting the knob back on the shaft is the easy part.

Re: Shifter Knob Removal
I cheated - took the car in for a LOF and asked them to pull it off while it was there. Dealer complied and charged nothing.
