Headlight Assemblies Replacement

Well I went in to the dealer for a regular oil change and was informed that there is a recall for replacing the headlight assemblies...Service campaign TC500C044R0. According to the dealer, owners have been complaining that the bulbs had been burning out too soon so this was to fix it.

I haven't seen anything about people complaining about this. Have I just been missing something or is there really another reason?

BTW, I've got the 4.6 w/o Tech.

I had my headlight assemblies changed but it wasn't due to the bulbs burning out. In fact it was for the ballast interfering with the radio frequency for the TPMS system and triggering a TPMS error light. SInce I had the headlights changed the intermittent TPMS light has not come on.

I've not been having the TPMS light issue that I've read about in the forum. In fact the only problem I had was with the tilt wheel limit switch and its been fine since replaced.

Then I would probably skip the headlight replacement.

Legitimate question.
Takes a long time, so you will either need a loaner and leave car there all day
After I had the headlights replaced, for a couple months there was headlight condensation in the assemblies after I washed the car. It eventually went away, but it annoyed me, especially when I told the dealer and they said, "it's normal".
That's why I say, if it aint broke, don't fix it.
 
If you have any pitting in the plastic lenses from road abrasion- take the new headlamp assemblies!

I'd recommend seeing if you can get the new headlight assemblies installed and KEEP the old (and probably still good) ones. Two years from now, when that rock that gets kicked up by the truck in front of you cracks your headlight, you've got a "free" replacement.

Do you know if that service campaign was for a specific year, manufacturing dates, or VIN's?

I just had my Genny in for the tilt/telescope TSB and I asked them to check for any open bulletins or campaigns. They said that, other than the ESC update, which they also did, there were no others applicable to my 2009 Genny (Feb 09 manufacture).

Good idea to try and keep the old assemblies!

I was not given anything more than what I stated in my first post plus they told me it would not take too long to do, but we'll see.

I had my service done on Sept. 1 and they told me that the TSB just came out.

I'll let you know when I have the service done.

My 2010 is at the dealership replacing the headlight assemblies due to a recall supposedly due to the lights burning out early. I have had no issues with the lights. However the TPMS error light has been coming on which they have tried to correct already with no success. I'm hoping it may be like in case of TJPark01 where his TPMS light is related to the headlight assembly. If it cures or not I'll re-post.

I believe this only applies to vehicles that do not have HID lights.
 
Dealership replaced the headlight assemblies, TPMS error light has not came back on. Leaves me wondering why Hyundai is not calling this a TPMS error light recall. ?

Seems to be affecting V8 models without the tech package. 2009 models. May be too narrow of a problem to issue a recall. Either way, it's been 7 or 8 months since I got this done and have not seen that pesky light since. Joy.
 
Almost 2 weeks now since headlight assembly replacement, TPMS error light has not came back on. yeep eee :D
