  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all, been lurking for a few months and this is my first post. I am happy to say that my wife and I have a 2010 Platinum 4.6 Tech sitting in the garage. We looked at numerous sedans and crossovers during the qwest and the Genesis was the clear winner in my mind.

Looks like it is going to take a while to figure out all the gizmos on this beast.

We never drove the 09's because of the suspension tightness that may or may not be there. All I can say is the 2010 has a nice ride in my opinion. We test drove it down the worst road here with all kinds of cracks in the asphalt and had no issues.

Quick question: I have seen the re badge kits on the auction site. Who has ordered from what company without problems? Looking for the rear, rims, steering wheel (does the overlay get in the way of the airbag), and undecided on the hood.

Thanks.....Grant :D

Welcome to the Forum, Grant. Congratulations on your new gennie. :welcome:

If you go to the "Wheels, Tires, Detailing and Appearance Modifications" section at http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=-1&f=46 you should see several threads dealing with the who, what, from where, and how to rebadge. Enjoy your new toy and good luck figuring out all the toys. I'm still trying to figure out some of them myself. :D

No problems ordering from those vendors on Ebay or direct on their website.

The rear badge is the smaller of the two and the trunk lid has holes that match the nubs on the badge. The larger one goes on the front, and you must remove the nubs (no holes in the US hood) and place it yourself where you think it goes.

There is a badge that fits right over the the H on the steering wheel (don't need the extra tape that is supplied), or for about $300 you can get an official Korean Airbag with the OEM badge on it (must be installed by a dealer).

You can also buy the whole rebadge kit from your Hyundai Dealer. (all except the hood badge). My dealer has them in stock.

postalav8,

Congrats on buying a great car...I have the same thing except it's a 2009 and I've had it for over 6 months now and love the car to death.

It is my opinion that you bought the best bang for your buck with the Gennie.
Enjoy!

Hello, the badge for the steering does not interfere with the airbag. There are several suppliers for the badges and the steering wheel logo. Go to e-bay for the cheapest supplier. As for the wheel center caps I bought mine from best choice auto parts on e-bay. Very good transaction, if he has the other items you want he would be a good place to buy from. As for the center caps I cut mine out from the original V 8 wheels and affixed the new wing caps in place. They came out fantastic. I looked at some the dealer had last week while there, they were sloppy and very crude.

Can you give some more details on how did you do that: what exactly did you cut out and what type of new wing caps did you use?

I used a 2 and 1/4 inch hole saw on a drill to cut the old h logo out.you need to be very careful and protect the finish on the front of the center caps. On the back side the cap there is a dimple that is the center of the logo to be removed, you need to drill a very small hole exactly in the center of that dimple that sticks up on the back side. By using a 2 1/4 inch hole saw the new center winged cap will be a bit smaller than the hole that you cut out. If you need to trim the hole to rid it of any rough areas that exist you can use a dremel tool for that task. Take some small cable ties and place them around the new center cap to create a spacer to center the new cap in the hole, you will need to criss cross the cable ties in order to make sure you cover all four sides of the new cap. Install the winged cap in the hole, it should fit in fairly tight. when you recieve the new caps you will need to cut the plastic clips from the back side, use side cutters. You can use a hot glue gun to cement these caps in place. Be sure they are centered and even all around the new cap. Let them cool and they can be painted with plastic paint on the backside to stop any light from shinning thru the clear glue. If you want to contact me you can do so, leaving for one week starting monday morning. Call me on 843-650-3083. My name is bob.

I forgot to tell you that I bought my center caps from best auto parts on e-bay. 14.95 plus shipping. Use the black center cap for the 17 inch wheels. They look somewhat like carbon fibre with the wing made into it.

Thanks for welcome and information. Went out today and got to see the car on the road. I was in another vehicle while the wife was driving the Genesis. In the rear view mirror the front of the car is impressive. Looked good in the showroom, looks impressive on the road. The back has a nice stance and the twin pipes complete the look. I am sure I am saying nothing new.

Cheers

Congratulations and welcome to the site. :welcome:

Don't get caught up in the supension debate, because there isn't any. Tires and wheels will normally do the trip for those who has a complaint on the 09's

Just enjoy you new ride. Good luck with figuring everything out.:)

On mine I put the larger on the trunk, and the smaller on the hood. I thought this was the way it was supposed to be done? It would look really strange to me the other way around. Oh well, either way im sure they look great. :D

Grats on your new 10 OP! Im jealous, but I still love the ride of my 09. :)

I think you are correct about which size looks best, but there is a slight difference in the curvature of the emblems that makes them a little better fit with the small one in the rear. But others have done the same as you, so it must not be a big problem.

Congrats on the new V8!! I'm sure you'll enjoy your new car. I agree about the view from the back. I think my favorite angle is from the side. The car looks long and I love the aggressive stance it take on.

Thank you for the info but it looks too scary for a DIY task for the ordinary person.
