  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Playing off of What surprises have you "found" in your car, what things have you learned at this site that you wouldn't have figured out on your own?

After coming up with my list, I'm feeling pretty good about becoming a Supporting Member.

In no particular order:
  • How to rebadge with the KDM badges (that's how I found this place)
  • The different types of Genesis wing wheel caps (one of the factors in why I went with the 3.8 instead of the 4.6)
  • How to get the dealer to replace the missing V6 trunk cover
  • The availability of the steering wheel badge and the KDM airbag unit
  • Steps on how to cool the car quickly
  • Where the exterior trunk switch was
  • How to add an external video source via the aux jack
  • Recommendation on window tinting
  • Lots of tips and product recommendations for detailing/washing
  • DTS/DVD-Audio recommendations for use with the Lexicon system
  • How to adjust the phone ringer and voice command volumes
  • How to mute the Lexicon system with a single button hold
  • That the noise from the sunroof was caused by protective tape that should have been removed at delivery
  • A tip on where the Equus would be that enabled me to see one in person
  • How to suspend route guidance easily without using voice command
  • Ideas for getting color-matched door moldings and LED courtesy light replacements
  • Pre-sales research (especially checking owner feedback to see if there were any serious issues before I bought)
  • Where to find electronic copies of the manuals and TSB's
  • How to find service information on hmaservice.com

That's just off the top of my head. Well worth $24/yr IMO!

Really good list dataguy.
I also learned where to test drive the Genesis along with other competetive models at the same time. And how to get an extra $500 off when I purchased (an offer gone long ago folks).

About this point "How to add an external video source via the aux jack" - did you mean external AUDIO source?

Whoa! What a list. In addition...
1. Oil Filter is a paper cartridge. Need 27 mm nut to remove oil filter.
2. You can manually tilt rear mirrors in reverse by moving switch left(both) right (right only).
3. How to program the homelink transmitter for a rolling code garage opener.
4. Chicks dig guys who drive Hyundai's.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
The information I've gathered here has been invaluable. I think everything mentioned in this topic so far as been "on my list" (including the blue protective film on the sunroof!) I'd have to say, the tilt mirrors tops the list for me.... that was ruining my life until I saw it mentioned here. :)

great list--where did you find how to cool quickly?

If you mean the air conditioning, the setting for maximum cool down quickness is as follows.
1. A/C engaged
2. Temp setting LOW
3. Air set to cabin recirculate
4. Rear vents closed
5. Fan direction main vents (arrow pointing to your head).
6. Fan speed, set to high (indicated by bars).

Fwiw, if you go to your car on a hot day, open all the windows and sunroof, then close them again before you start trying to cool the car - this gets all the stuffy hot air out of the car REAL quick and means less work for the car to cool things off as the cabin can now be 20 degrees cooler or so. If you could see this on a thermal camera, its like a mushroom cloud shoots out of the car.

Hello everyone you have collected a nice list. Its good to read it. From where did you collect!

what was the answers to the question, how to mute the Lexicon system with one button?

what was the answers to the question, how to mute the Lexicon system with one button?

The MODE switch on the steering wheel: press and hold it for a couple seconds. That powers the whole system OFF. Tapping it again should re-awake the system with the original audio source still selected.

Tapping MODE will also transfer a Bluetooth phone call from the Lexicon back to your phone - i.e. engage "Private Mode" - if you're on the phone. I do this just before shutting the engine OFF when I happen to be on the phone as I park the car. Too bad my stupid phone still stops with an annoying "Bluetooth connection lost; press OK to go to local mode."

I have learned that Seattle Genesis and DataGuy are a wealth of information......great insight and info on our Genny's, truly appreciate your guys being on the forums and an active sponsoring members :)

How do you suspend the guidance without using voice commands or having to find it in the navigational menu? Also is there a way to cancel the route vs. just suspending it? Thanks as always !!

Simple! Just push the control knob down twice!!

By control knob you mean the DIS control wheel?....Thanks.

Yep, "click" the controller wheel straight down toward the ground (not pull the knob in the down direction toward the rear seats).

To numerous to mention. I learned all things Genesis from this forum before I became a Genesis owner last September. I can say that everyone on here is very helpful which makes this forum the best Genesis forum out there.

it sure would be nice if the you could hold down the 'unlock' on the key fob and all windows would come down and sunroof open like on Honda and Toyota. If you do it as you walk up to the car, by the time you are in and started all the hot air has left the cabin.
