  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

NAV-TV announces the release of the much anticipated Video in Motion (ViM) integration module for the all new Hyundai Genesis and Lincoln MKS automobiles. This new ViM module allows for the display of the factory entertainment system for the enjoyment of the passengers while the vehicle is in motion.

This plug and play module represents an important step in the evolution of NAV-TV for new product development. The NAV-TV video module allows for video in motion within the factory navigation screen. The module used in the MKS also allows for the manual activation of the factory-installed backup camera for use as a trailer cam.

“NAV-TV is always seeking to add entertainment and convenience to our customer’s automotive experience. We intend this to be the first in a wide line of new products for Hyundai and other new vehicle platforms (including Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles)” said Moni Melman, chief executive officer of NAV-TV.

The NAV-TV Genesis ViM allows for full integration to Hyundai vehicles with the Media Oriented Systems Transport, or MOST, fiber optic network, and is compatible with the Hyundai Genesis navigation radio.

The NAV-TV MKS ViM allows for full integration to Lincoln vehicles and is compatible with the recently released MKS navigation radio. Both the Genesis ViM and the MKS ViM are designed, engineered, and validated to maintain the look and feel of the factory installed system. The system is designed to be dealer- and or user-upgradeable for future upgrades and product enhancements via USB.

I'd like to have my CD covers show on the screen (I've been told, "that's dangerous") but I don't know if I would allow myself to watch The Fast And The Furious while driving.

It does look cool though, so would someone else rip the wiring apart in their Genny and report back.

if it were $149.99 instead of $399.99 I'd give it a try.

same, price about 2x what I would be willing to pay.

group discount????

Very interested, but not at that price. Maybe it will come down in a few months.

Someone please buy this and install it then let me know how it goes.

Does it work? Any side affects? I'm highly interested in watching video while in motion, it would make my Sega look sooo cool.

I had this installed for about 2 months now. It works as advertised and can be disabled by pressing the Voice Command button for 3 seconds. You cannot, however, see video from an iPod, however. It will allow you to see DVD movies for the enjoyment of the passengers only...;)

It is not cheap, but it plugs into a fiber bus network, so it's not just a dumb switch. It is also designed to be updateable via USB. Also, you will want to know that having this feature on will disable your Voice Command feature, if that's a concern to you. You can use either one, but not both of them at the same time.

Only disables voice control while the movie is playing on the nav screen or disables voice control completely while Video in Motion is installed?

It disables voice control completely while VIM is activated thru the steering wheel. Once you disable VIM functionality, voice control is fully restored whether the unit is physically installed or not, but you won't be able to watch video if the transmission is set to anything but Park, as before. The good thing is that the setting is "remembered" between engine restarts. I do not use voice control so this is not an issue for me.

Unfortunately you wouldn't be able to view Cover Art from your iPod with VIM, but I personally think glancing at the graphics would be less dangerous than say, reading the track/album info, which would also distract you from your Blackberry screen.....:D

Are you able to access bluetooth voice commands and receive calls over the bluetooth?

Bluetooth works normally with VIM turned on. I have not tested BT voice commands since I don't use them on my iPhone but Genesis Voice Commands in general are disabled when the VIM is on.

It's one of those things you never really missed until you tried it. I had a hard time justifying the purchase because it's fairly expensive, but I live in the Washington Metro Area where commutes can be really tough. Most of the time, just inching along or stopping altogether but you don't put the transmission in P every time. Having this device gave me the capability to watch a bunch of my movies I normally can't at home due to--guess what--3-4 hours of daily commute. I never let it run in video mode once the car is moving at a reasonable pace, because just like texting or messing with the Nav system, it's a distraction, but in these scenarios it's a life saver for me.

Hey Warp08,

I purchased the mod from NavTV serveral months ago for my 4.6 tech package. It was sent directly to a stereo shop here in Atlanta. It had to be sent back twice because NavTv had only done one Genesis at that time, and they said the tech forgot or couldn't remember exactly how he constructed the modual. The first time that they sent it, it did not have Voice Command. But when they sent it back, it worked fine. I have full voice command/bluetooth with VIM. Hey check this out, it is a plug and play, and they send the instalation instructions with it. Had I saw the instructions first, I could have installed it. You pop the face plate off using a piece of hard plastic, remove two philips head screws, and two 10mm bolts. Then dis-connect the factory harness, connect NavTV's harness. The stereo shop charged me $75.00 bucks to install it. Works great. You need to let them know that the Voice Command doesn't work.

Thanks

As I have said on other forums, when one of you careless, self-centered video-in-motion drivers crashes headlong into another vehicle, I hope that one is being driven by a video-in-motion idiot too.

Thanks for the tip, but I'd rather not touch the thing. I haven't used Voice Command a lot, since the DIS is so intuitive, it's not worth the hassle for me. At some point, when they release a firmware update, I'd have to do it anyway to flash the unit, perhaps that'll be the right time to mess with it.

You are such a dork. Cell phones are more dangerous than video in motion, for that matter, NAV is more dangerous. I spend upwards of 45 seconds looking away from the road while typing in an address on my NAV. Video in Motion is the least of your worries, you are really old, beyond dorky and just want something else to complain about.

It is unlikely that anyone will spend more time looking away from the road to watch movie than they would looking away to type in a NAV address or scrolling through IPod playlists.

Go Thunder!

You know, if you use voice command, you don't have to look anywhere but the road . . . who's a what?
