  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is there any intake or header for V8?

*bump*

I've been searching and can't find anything for the 4.6 :(

I have a feeling it's going to be awhile before we see any serious modifications for the Tau V8. Everybody is concentrating on the 2.0 liter turbo engine.. If enough people ask for stuff, we'll get it... So keep asking...

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Thanks for the info, I'll stop wasting my time in looking around for a period of time. Gonna avoid a custom cut because it can cause too many problems.

When/if someone does deliver custom headers expect to look for an updated ECU, The greater flow and lower backpressure will probably cause problems for the stock unit.

FYI

Just got this e-mail from K&N !!!

I have used K&N free flow direct replacement filters in the last three cars I owned and they sure due "breath" alot better then the factory ones!!

I got mine on Thursday (8-27)

Besides air fikter elements sprint booster has a amplifier to speed up throttle by wire responce time.

I just picked up my 2010 Tau last night. We will be developing several goodies for it including the intake. I'm talking with Hypertech about possibly developing a tune for it, giving it more power and quicker shifts, but they're a bit leary about the ECU with it being new to them. Regardless, I've offered to drop mine off to them.

We already have the test pipes built for it since it's the same as on the V6. I've forwarded an email to become an authorized vendor so that I can list this. Since I just got the car, I won't have a base dyno graph of before and afters yet. Being that you're just eliminating the secondary cats I don't forsee a huge gain, but it should allow it to breathe better.

I don't see alot of gains from aftermarket equipment for this engine. It's pretty dang strong right out of the box (385hp/4.6L) is pretty impressive. There may be some suttle gains with tweeking the ECU or lower restriction exhaust etc, but, at what cost? These things are not like small block Fords/Chevys where the OE design is so poor that anything you do improves the performance.

That's what we're working on finding out.

I have written on derestricting before. My latest change has been to remove the stock air box completely and subsitute a cone-style K&N type filter. I am using a filter sold by Lingenfelter for use in their '04-07 Cadillac CTS-V. It has a four inch mouth which is just a little bit bigger than the flange of the Hyundai MAF to which I have attached it. I used some simple tape to shim up the MAF flange. I also retained the stock over the top of radiator intake, which delivers cold air to the filter. Ideally, one would build sort of a dam around the cone filter to keep out underhood air. That is a much larger task. Whatever, my modification is revocable at any time. I can return it to stock in five minutes.
Cost of my new filter including delivery was about $55.
I now have over 5000 miles on this combo. I like it a lot. There is definite intake noise upon acceleration, but on steady state cruise it is silent like stock. I have not dynoed this combination, but it definitely feels stronger.

MRBO462, I did not do a baseline dyno or an after dyno. Were I marketing this mod I would certainly do a before/after dyno. In my opinion the intake and exhaust of this car are seriously restricted and perhaps overly restricted in the interests of sound attenuation. That is all well and good. So virtually any derestriction of exhaust/intake will result in increased power.
I do have a reference-quality air fuel ratio meter. I was able to confirm that the car easily maintains a 14.5 fuel ratio on closed loop; and still is a bit rich on open loop.

MSA --- Have you come up with the Hypertech chip yet???
