In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I am in the market for a 2011-2013 Genesis.

I am interested in the HPP warranty not as a supplement but as a replacement for the CPO warranty. The amount of tech on the car that remains uncovered after 5/60k by the CPO warranty doesn't do it for me.

I do want to buy a CPO car though as the financing rates are very competitive(1.9% 60months).

I read that if you want the HPP warranty that unless you have 35k or less miles they must inspect your car before hand.. Has anyone done this or heard of it done? potential issues here?

My thinking is buy a CPO car ~ 20-30k miles.
Use the 5/60 warranty until or near completion.
Purchase a HPP warranty around 50k miles to replace the 5/60.

Another thought I've had.

A very clean 2009 4.6 for sale with 50k miles @ Hyundai for around 18k(asking).
Negotiate an inspection and HPP warranty at time of purchase.
Save almost 10k vs a 2012 4.6.

Should the cost of the HPP warranty be less @ 50k miles vs 25k miles? I would guess shorter warranty period should equal less $ in my opinion. Opinion vs Reality though

I'm leaning towards the lowest mile Tech loaded 2012 3.8 CPO I can find and option 1 if possible(add HPP later).

Researched platinum 10/100,00/$0 deductible warranties

When I asked the finance manager at the Hyundai dealership where I bought my Genesis, for the Hyundai Platinum Warranty $0 deductible 10/100,000 mile, he said he could not match the $1,200 to $1,400, that members of this Forum have been quoted. The finance manager printed out a sheet showing his cost as $1,926.

I did the research for the extended warranties before purchasing it from the info I received from this Forum. Here is what I found out.

Because my car had over 10,000 miles (17,800) even though it was under 3 years old and I bought the car new. It was considered a used car by Hyundai Protection Plan (HPP), and the price range from all the Hyundai dealers on the Forum was from $2,400 to 2,649. It had to be a CPO car to get the $1,200 price.

I called Jim Ellis and got right through to Haub Cao, business manager. I got an immediate quote on the phone for $2,649 for the platinum 10/100,00/$0 deductible because it was not a CPO car.

I called Jerry’s Hyundai, asked for Brando, got an immediate quote on the phone for $2,526 for the platinum 10/100,00/$0 deductible.

I called Annapolis Hyundai and talk to Donna, she quoted me $2,426 for the platinum 10/100,00/$0 deductible.

I called First Hyundai, got right through to Mateo. Got a quote on the phone for $2,600 for the platinum 10/100,00/$0 deductible.

Called Jim Price Hyundai in Charlottesville, VA. and ask for
Mike. Got a quote on the phone for $1,395 for the platinum 10/100,00/$0 deductible, not sure this is the HPP extended warranty.

From Butler Hyundai in Indy, I got a quote on the phone for $2,426 for the platinum 10/100,00/$0 deductible.

They all said the car was used even though I bought it new and it was not a CPO car.

I went back to my dealer in town, run into the General Sales Manager, who originally sold me my Genesis. I told him I was trying to buy Hyundai Platinum Warranty $0 deductible 10/100,000 mile and there price was too high. (see above). He said to call on Tuesday the following week. I left two messages, one of his financial managers called back with a quote of $1199.
Their cost is $1099. The finance manager said I got the “Friends and family members of HMA price”. I said sign me up and here is my credit card number. Needless to say I am a happy camper.

The price of the warranty on a car that isn't new can vary widely. The $1199 price that I received was because the car was less than 30 days old at the time. The company offering the warranty invests the money so it's worth more to them when they may have to dish out for fixes. If you are buying the warranty after 3 years, they lose that 3 year investment and will charge more.

You got a great deal considering your car isn't new. Persistence pays off. Congrats!

I think that is correct, plus they probably have statistics that show that warranty claims are much higher for customers who purchase an extended warranty later, rather than when the car is new.

That makes complete sense. After 3 years, if the car hasn't had a single problem, one is less likely to purchase an extended warranty.

There's an 80% chance that 20% of all statistics are wrong.

Hi, new member to forum here.

I am about to pull the trigger and purchase a 2012 4.6L model with 24k miles on it. No CPO.

From what I am reading on this forum, I should be able to purchase an extended 100k miles/10 year HPP warranty for $1200 if I shop around (perhaps at J. Eliis dealer in Atlanta?)???

Is that right??

Thanks in advance.

Did you read the post above from Martyk? Read it about 10 times until you understand it.

Just buy a zurich extended warranty. Seem to have a better rep than the fidelity one though hyundai.

0/10/10000 for about 1400.

Covers bumper to bumper including nav and RADAR CRUISE CONTROL. Hyundai's HPP specifically lists it as and EXCLUDED item.

Zurich extended warranty reviews are very favorable. Commonly used by BMW(where i'd seen it before).

Not true, I am looking at Hyundai's HPP Platinum warranty and it says:

III. EXCLUSIONS FROM COVERAGE

14. "in-vehicle communications and/or entertainment or other system NOT FACTORY INSTALLED OR APPROVED."

"(except for those specifically LISTED UNDER UNDER GOLD COVERAGE), radar detectors, appliances, near object avoidance systems and all laser radar cruise control components, vinly and convertible tops;"
