  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

It appears there is a malfunction with the stop lamp switch. I have noticed some of the intermittent issues that this recall describes however I don't know if my break lights worked or not. Looks like I'll be taking in my Genny for this fix.

I have not received the letter yet, but I just went out to www.hmaservice.com, Telematics section, and entered my VIN, and under the Recall Campaign History the item to replace the stop lamp switch shows up, along with the PDF of the TSB. It looks like "almost" all Hyundai models during that approximate date range are affected, but some models going back to 2006 (as detailed in the TSB).

Interesting. Just had my car serviced on Monday and no mention of that recall. Previously had brake fluid changed and on Monday, they reflashed my ECM.

According to the www.hmaservice.com site, it was updated to a recall on Monday (2013-11-18), so may not have been in the system when dealer had your car.

12/31/10 is build date. Just my luck. Have to schedule another trip to dealer.

According to the TSB, Genesis Sedans built From Apr. 30, 2008 to Nov. 22, 2010 are affected by the recall.

Thanks for info.

My 2011 Sonata had this switch failure. I assume this is a like design, if not the same. This problem was widely know throughout the Sonata community. I can't believe it's taken this long. Serious safety issue if your brake lights are out.

Sonatas are also included in same recall (as are most Hyundai models):
  • Sonata (NFA) 2007 - 2010 From Mar. 1, 2007 to Nov. 30, 2009
  • Sonata (YFA) 2011 From Dec. 1, 2009 to Jan. 31, 2011

It was bad because mine has the keyless start. No brake switch work = no start. Was on the phone with Hyundai cust service and after about an hour they called back and let me know about the override to start the car. That's when I was rolling around without brake lights.

Brought the car in last week to replace the master drive window switch and was told there is a recall on the stop lamp switch (campaign 110, .3 hrs) and it was also replaced.

Just got mine replaced this morning. Drove in for the 7am opening bell without an appointment and was in and out with a complimentary exterior wash in 50 minutes. The folks at Gettel Hyundai in Sarasota really have their act together. Great service department.

Here's the .pdf of the TSB with all the details on all affected Hyundai models, years, the replacement part numbers, and replacement instructions for the shop techs:
