Default Tires H, V or W Speed Rating?

Remove this ad
I have a 2010 4.6 and have 30K on the OEM Dunlop tires. I have 3/32 of tread left and the tires have worn well. I would like to replace them with the Turanza Serenity Plus but I am not sure of what speed rating to get. The one thing I liked about the Dunlops is the feel/grip of the road I had while driving. Does that suggest I throw out the H rating and choose a V or W rating? What is the difference between a V or W rating? Thanks.

The Bridgestone Tires for your car should be W rated. When i purchased The Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus tires they only came in W rating in the size for the Genesis 4.6 V8.

Here is link to tire info regarding load, speed ratings etc. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...jsp?techid=35&

Ok. Thanks. Didn't realize they came like that.
How do you compare the feel for the road with the Dunlops?

A comfortable riding tire like the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus is not going to have as much road feel and precise steering as the OEM Dunlops. However, many people with a 2009-2011 Genesis sedan would prefer softer tires due to some complaints about the stiff suspension.

In general, for the same model of tire, the higher the speed rating (for those tires that come in more than one speed rating), the stiffer the sidewall, and the better the steering, with a slightly harsher ride. But one cannot really make that comparison across brands/models due to so many other variables.

Tire Rack has good customer surveys that rate tires on many different criteria, and you can choose which criteria are most important to you.

IMO the turanza Serenity tires handle, stop, start, and ride better than the OE Dumflops which rank near last in every catigory on tire rack.com. The Serenity absolutely gives a better driving experience. Dunlops = http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....P+Sport+5000+M

"2012 R-Spec, brought it with 12 k had to have the Bridgestones changed out at 22k. Not worth it" What are you saying? The Bridgestones are not worth the price? Were you looking for a change in ride, comfort and or grip and your experience of the Bridgestone turanzas (?) disappointed? Your experience with Bridgestones were no difference than what you experienced with the original Dunlops?

My bad i had the bridgestone potenza s-04 pole position high performance p245/45r19 summer tires, which didn't last past 22k. The performance was nice, but not worth the extra cost and the wear.

Mine only lasted for 18K. I replaced them with Conti DW and they seem to handle a lot better. Now if they will last longer than 18K. The price difference was only like 5 bucks.
