  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Don't know if the info is out here yet.

I know that from some of the other threads I've read, there is the issue with the suround sound staying selected on the radio when turning off the car, turning it back on and changing modes. I too have the same problem.

I know from the reading, there wasn't a software solution yet and the only remedy was to replace the head unit. Well today I got a call from my dealer stating that there is now a TSB on the issue and a software upgrade. I don't know what the TSB # is. I'm out of town on travel right now but will be taking the car in next week to get the TSB software upgrade. I'll find out the number as well as let you guys know if it does indeed fix the problem.

When talking to the service advisor today, he said it specifically addressed the issue. He knows exactly what the issue is as I showed him what it was last time I had the car in for service and he was going to order me a new head unit. So we'll see if they have finally come up with a solution.

You can download the TSB from www.hmaservice.com

TSB 12-BE-012-1 DRIVER INFORMATION SYSTEM (DIS) OPERATING SOFTWARE UPDATE

But, TSB says it is for the Genesis Sedan 2009 to 2011 and Equus 2011. You might want to ask your dealer about this.

My dealer hasn't received the Discs yet. It's been almost 3 months since the TSB got released.

Not sure where I read it, but heard that 12-BE-012-1 has been applied to 2012 models and bricking the Head Unit.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Please explain bricking. Or did you mean to say breaking? Got any other info? I'd hate to be out a unit untill they find a replacement. I should be taking the car in middle of next week.

Sorry, bricking is a cell phone term for a failed custom rom update that breaks your phone. It is as good as a brick. :)

Did you get the software update? I'm curious of what version of S/W you have now.

Not yet. I'm going to be getting the update done on wed. But I'm still worried that it may "brick" the system, even though this is an updated software, i.e., -1.

For what its worth changing the head unit fixed the surround sound unchecking issue. Unfortunately it created numeous other issues.

FYI, there is a new software. The one listed in the posted thread has been superceeded by TSB 12-BE-012 -1 dated July 2012.

I've read thru that thread and even posted in there asking about the new software but no one could/has answered the question about the new S/W. Hyundai is the one telling the dealer to install the new S/W first to fix the problem, not to change the head unit.

I've also discussed this with my Service rep and he is aware of the issues and my concerens. I'll know more when I go to pick up the car and will post the results here tomorrow, so stand by.

The TSB is not approved for the 2012 year...still waiting and it might not be worth the upgrade if (as has been reported here) other problems began to occur after the "surround unchecked" is fixed. Kind of "Better the devil you know..."

My dealer said they were told by Hyundai to not apply the update as it will affect other systems. Not approved for 2012 models. You may want to not do this to yourself.;)

Interesting that Hyundai is the one telling him to install the newest version, the -1, instead of changing the head unit. It's all covered under warrenty so no wories, they'll have to fix it one way or the other.

From reading the other thread, it dosen't look like anyone has tried the new software, or at least they are not speaking up. Guess I'll be the guinea pig on this one.

OK, I got the car back yesterday.
#1. The suround sound staying selected issue has been fixed. No issues with it on all audio inputs.

#2. NAV works the same as it did before. No issues with NAV.

#3. BT phone works the same as it did before. No issues.

Old S/W was 13.001
New S/W 13.510

TSB is 12-BE-012-1 dated July 2012.

So it looks like they have everything fixed now with the updated S/W.:D

AWESOME!!:D

What dealer did you take that to? I want my dealer to give them a call so they can fix mine.

Thanks!

Oxnard Hyundai did mine. But your dealer shouldn't have any issue getting the info from Hyundai, mine didn't.

When I had the car in at the local Hyundai agency for other service, I complained that the surround setting deselected itself when you navigate from one source to another (XM to DVD, and so forth). They said that the knew about the problem, and had a software fix for it, and I've not had any issues with it since.

I have attempted without any luck to get my Hyundai dealer here in Eugene to apply the TSB update to my 2012 model. They will not do it because they are being told that it may cause unrecoverable damage to the stereo. I tried to reason with them on the phone and explained how several people are getting the update and it is fixing their issue. I finally said it is broke and you need to fix it. Either you apply the update or you replace my head unit. They are going to look into replacing the head unit. Now doesn't that make more sense.

I wish I had a choice on dealers. I miss my BMW and the service I received with them.
