  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Constant pulling to the left

I have 2011 Genesis 4.6 and I noticed that the car pulls to the left. It has 1000 miles on it. I noticed the left pull around 200 - 300 miles mark. I haven't seen anyone with 2011 with left pull issue in this thread. Plans to take it to the dealer next week or so.

Yep, 2011 4.6 here with mild pull to left. At first I thought it was just my imagination, but it seems to be getting worse as I approach 2000 miles. Not the end of the world, mind you, but not the kind of thing I want to have to worry with only a few weeks after spending this much on a new auto. (Yes, have tried in each lane and have taken into consideration the road contour.)

I could swear that my non-linear shifts from 1-3 on slow starts are getting more pronounced as well...

HAD THE SAME THING TO THE RIGHT THE FIRST 5 DAYS I GOT THE CAR !!!! I WAS RETURNING IT ---BUT MINE WAS GOING TO RIGHT ,,MY DEALER TRYED EVERYTHING SO THEY SPOKE TO HYUNDAI AND SAID THEY WOULD FIX IT OR GIVE ME A NEW CAR -----IT WORKED !!! I thought the frame was bent or something tell your dealer to change all 4 sensors in the sophisticated traction control system AND MY CAR DRIVES LIKE A ROCK ..YES I had to keep my hands on the wheel to stay in lane....NOW IT'S LIKE WOW JUST GREAT !!! and never thought they could fix it ...hope this helps 2010 v8 GOOD LUCK IKEYM

I own a Genesis 3.8 Coupe GT and I will be going in for a 4th time to have the dealer fix a pull to the right that has been there since I purchased the car new in March of this year. I only have 11,500 miles on it so I shouldn't be having this issue. It has never tracked straight...ever. A lot of others don't have this issue so I know it's fixable.

If I let go of the wheel I will be over the white line in 2 - 3 seconds no matter what lane I'm in and no matter how bad the road crown.

I'm glad I found your post ikeym! I'm going to request that they try bolting on the wheels from another Coupe and if that doesn't work then to replace the sensors you mentioned.

The car just isn't fun to drive with this problem.

I'm thinking this might have something to do with the tires. I noticed this pulling to the left when I got my car last year. I haven't thought much about it the last few months. It wasn't until this week that I started noticing it again. Well, I pulled my Blizzaks off and put the Dunlops back on last weekend, so presumably it has something to do with the tires...although I can't conceive of WHY the tires could cause such a thing.

I had at least 3 bad tires and no matter what was done the car pulled right. changed all 4 tires and presto it tracked straight.

I have always had a little pull to the right. Got new Conti's and it got worse. May have had some radial pull because we rotated tires around a few different ways and it got a little better. Got alignment done (not at the dealer), and the tech showed me where the caster was off, but Hyndai's do not allow for caster adjustment.

So I don't know what the answer is. Most on this board say they pull left; a few of us pull right. I would argue that the lack of a caster adjustment is maybe part of the problem.

New Genesis sedan Tau, only 3500 miles!! I lost track of how many times I have taken it in to the dealer already for the right pulling problem. Alignments including 4 wheel, road force and straight track alignments. Replaced tires and wheels using nonDunlops.
Hyundai sent in Field Service Engineer from out of town who supposedly loosened up the "whole front end" and then tightened everything back up. He declared problem solved and left town. Blamed road crown. First ride with dealer service manager, car still pulling without change. Then the crazy birds started flying: Road crown causes pull; steering is electric assist so you can't let go of wheel; all cars pull, etc etc. So I made him give me a different new Genesis off the lot and we ran the same roads. Guess what? No pulling. Straight as an arrow. Tried a second different Genesis, no pull. Service manager agreed. So the crazy birds aren't flying anymore. Hyundai needs to buy this thing back or replace it. I think they have a known problem, but hey have no fix. Dealer said he never heard of traction sensor problem. No TSB on it. Anyone have similar experience? How do I make Hyundai give me an equivalent or better car? I have no confidence in the Genesis platform. Maybe Equus behaves better? What if they won't find me an identical or better car? Lemon law, here we go. I should have bought the Toyota. I made a video of the pull on YouTube: its called mydefectivehyundai.
Feel free to add your input.

Have a new TAU (luxury not RSpec). As new it pulled to left. The dealer said they rotated the Michelin tires on front swapping sides. Also, they said they adjusted the camber as it was off a bit. I asked for the print out and was refused to get it. The service writer and techs I sensed were a bit nervous. I heard her on another post about frame issues dues to improper shipping.

Anyway, the pull has stopped to the left. I now sense a slight pull to right.

I had a Hertz 3.8 rental for 20k miles. Basic model.. Was perfect in all regards as a car except for noisy Dunlaps. And no pulling ever. I bought this mine because I liked the 3.8 so well.

We will see how the tires wear and if they did some hidden crap to account for a frame issue. I am thinking of taking it to a tire shop that has all the road force alignment and balance to see what they show the alignment is set to.

Four sets of tires: 3 Dunlop 5000M, 1 set of Kunmho 16's. Alignment x3-4. Road force x2. Straight track x2. Field service engineer x 2. I lost track of how many trips to the dealer. Hyundai brought out the field service engineers twice. They swapped out tires for a new different set of Dunlops.
Car now pulls to the left, though not nearly as bad. HYUNDAI offered to buy the car back for what I paid. I got a great deal on it initially, so I just wanted an MSRP to MSRP swap for another one, but Hyundai says no. Talk about screw job. I believe they know they have a problem and they want it buried. Why they are being so obtuse is beyond me. Dozens of hours up on a rack, torn apart, wiggled and futzed with. The big concern now is that the car is so far out of spec, tire wear will be horrible and the problem will recur. Of course this will take a few thousand miles, and by that time they will deny responsibility again. What a miserable way to do business!! After everything, they still give me no specific answer about what was wrong. I think the answer is a defective product.
