  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2011 with 22k miles puling to the right. Took it to the dealer for 4 wheel alignment. When they finished I asked for the printout. Still shows camber out of spec (-1.2) on right front. Service advisor says camber is not adjustable on the Genesis.

Is the camber NOT adjustable on the Genesis?

If the suspension isn't altered, I would challenge them to show you why it is out of spec, and that they should repair to fix it unless something is bent from your driving.

Had my winter tires changed by local master mechanic who complemented the R-Spec as having rear wheel camber adjustment availability. Did not ask him about front wheel camber adjustment.

Hi everyone.

I have a 2009 Genesis. I took my car in for an alignment at dealer today.

The service advisor didnt say anything about any issues. The print out shows that the camber on the right front went from -1.2 to -1.3, It shows it out of spec.

I called the dealer...and the manager pulled it up on his computer and said... well nothing we can do. He said they would have to start replacing parts to correct the camber. He said that perhaps something is bent in the suspension.

The camber should be between -1.0 to 0.1 on this wheel according to their print out. So apparently after the alignment - the camber actually got worse. I want to confirm - the camber is not adjustable?

Thanks

Bob

From the downloadable factory service manual "Suspension" chapter:

Camber is pre-set at the factory and doesn't need to be adjusted. If the camber is not within the standard value, replace the bent or damaged parts.

There are several locations where oval/elongated bolts could be substituted to allow front camber adjustments. Also, if both front wheels are out of spec, or at least both are shifted away from the optimal -0.53 degree point, it could mean the lower frame piece (beefy metal piece going from the bottom of one side of the car to the other side) is slightly shifted to one side or the other. I don't know how much "slop" exists in the mounting of this relative to the rest of the vehicle structure but this beefy piece, plus the sheet metal towers (visible in the engine compartment) that support the top of the suspension bits determine where the suspension parts actually mount. So any mis-alignment of that chassis rail and/or the towers is instantly reflected as alignment issues. Of course bending any of the links of the suspension also trashes alignment.

Camber is ajustable on the R-spec

Just had mine tweaked again for a more responsive stearing and feedback from the chassis.

-2 camber rear | -1 camber front

.17 toe out rear .07 toe out front

Caster was left at OEM.

My intent with this setup was to allow a more natural (heavy) steering response. I have achieved that. The car tracks fantastic, and has immediate turn in response. I have more feedback from the steering wheel with the OEM rims and spec rubber; once I'm running a bit wider track I'll be able to tweak some more again.

Overall I do not find the steering fatiguing or unnaturally boosted as it was with the excessive toe'd in nature of the OEM setup.

Try it... you might be surprised.

NOTE: As a natural disclaimer I am well aware of the spec's I have listed are outside of OEM -- abnormal / uneven tire wear may occur due to these settings. As always set your own toe, camber, and caster settings at your own risk.

Can this be confirmed: Genesis R-Spec sedans have adjustable FRONT camber? Thanks.

FYI - there ARE front camber shims made for the 2009-14 sedans. They are made by SPC, Model numbers 71930 thru 71935 for different correction amounts

I like a little extra negative camber on the g70 series, wears the tires more evenly if you corner hard
