I was browsing the hma service web site:
hmaservice.com
I noticed on the left hand menu there is an entry for "Telematics Information". I have never seen this one before, so maybe it is new. Anyway, I click the link and enter the VIN for my car. I get detailed specs for the car, such as paint codes and engine serial number, etc...Then I scroll down and find the sections for warranty history, port installed options, and factory installed options...
Mine shows in the warranty history that the car had something done to the left front fender at the port. It is described "distorted/blurred" and in the right column it says "foreign material". I assume this means that they at least buffed out the fender or could have even possibly repainted it at the port prior to delivery. Funny though, there are no entries after delivery. I have only had it in the shop once for a warranty eligible repair, and since it was only a loose bolt, maybe the dealer did not document it as warranty. It will be interesting to see if others with more substantial warranty repairs have entries in this database...
I also see the the rear cargo tray was a port installed option...
I just figured I'd share the find with anyone who is interested. The database seems searchable even for all VIN's. Could even be a good tool for used car buyers, or even new car buyer to see the history that Hyundai has for a VIN.
