Thinking about replacing the driver and passenger ones with aftermarket carpeted mats, anyone have a good site or online store that sells quality, reasonably priced mats?

Hello all,

I have been on this forum for a while reading reviews and specs on the Genesis Coupe. I am happy to say that after doing lots of research, I have chosen the Genesis Coupe 3.8 R Spec as my next vehicle.

My Genesis is a white 2013 R Spec with the 3.8 V6. I love the looks and it's performance.

Hello from San Diego

My wife drives the Genesis and has put me in charge of new tires...which is probably a good thing. The 2009 4.8 has 53K on it. She purchased Pirelli Net Zero 235 50 R18 at 36K. The rear tires have 5K left if that.

I went back to Discount Tires. The warranty on the tires is 45K (I am surprised) so they have offered to give her a discount of about 50% on any new tires.

Every time I ride with my new bride I think that we have just robbed a bank. However 22K on Pirelli is just sad. I run the ATR Pirelli Scorpions on my 4Runner and I have 50K and 20K tread left.

Goals are somewhat longer life of the tire and competence at speed. We are in San Diego and she drives almost all freeway miles.

Thank you much for your tips. Now the real story is I like the hot Korean Rocket.

Hey ya'll,

Just wanted to share the e-bay site that I bought my "key glove" from. After dropping my first key 20 feet off some bleachers onto the concrete below and watching the key shatter, I knew I had to get something to protect it, but at the same time still have it look stylish.

Bought this off ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Leather-Smar...item25683c912d

and am loving it, just wanted to share with those of you looking into protecting your key, and the price wasn't bad either at $9.

On a recent 1000 mile round trip to NC from Maryland my GPS twice flashed up a "Congestion ahead" warning, and twice displayed a "Construction ahead" warning. Neither warning was accurate (there were no congestion or construction problems on the road), and my XM subscription expired over a year ago, so I can't imagine where a nav warning would come from in any case.

Does anybody have any idea what this could be about, other than some random glitch?

With all the glowing reviews I've read about the new GS 350, I finally stopped by my local Lexus dealer for a test drive. The car had the same setup that car mags have been driving, ie with the F sport package. I drove it at the standard setting, and at the Sport + setting.

Advantages over the Genesis 4.6:
1. GS is smaller, lighter, and hence felt more nimble.
2. GS being a redesign, had a nicer interior. Loved the 12 inch LCD screen.
3. GS with the Sport + setting had slightly firmer suspension, and leaned less than the Genny during cornering.

Disadvantages:
1. GS engine did not sound as good as the 4.6 Tau. The Lexus salesman actually opened up the hood to show me this sound generator. It's basically a speaker that amplifies the intake noise. I was totally surprised that the noise was not very pleasant as it had a raspy quality to it. You don't hear it with light throttle application, but under moderate to heavy throttle, you definitely hear it. I much prefer the quiet growl of the Tau engine.

2. GS did not feel any faster than the Genny in regard to acceleration. I think official 0-60 times are about the same also.

3. GS cabin is not as roomy.

4. GS is priced $50+. With similar equipment levels, it's 15k-20k more than the Genny.

Other considerations:
Both cars seemed equally quiet in regard to road noise and wind noise.
The GS styling is not that weird in person.

In the end, I felt that I liked my V8 Genny more, mainly because of the wonderfully smooth motor. However, I wish the next generation Genesis will add the feature that Lexus attempted but failed miserably on:

add a sound generator or tube that goes into the cabin, but make sure that the sound is good (no raspy tones please), and that it's defeatable with a switch. I would be willing to pay $1000 just for that.

2010 vs 2012 4.6 honestly

I have had my 2010 4.6 at the dealer to have the drive shaft replaced. The Service dept failed to order the shaft
for my scheduled service date. Instead of admitting the oversight the service Manager went into all kinds of double talk only to get caught in his own BS. to mitigate the CSI backlash he gave me a 2012 4.6 with 1800 miles as a loaner. I have been driving it for the last
2 days and feel comfortable submitting the following comparison.
Pro 2012
1.I think the drivers seat has better lat support.

2.Lexicon 17 speaker sound system is clearly superior to the excellent 14 speaker Lexicon

3. driver seat cool function was impressive

4. The Dynamic adjustable shock dampener
option on the window sticker might effect cornering but the ride seems very similar to the 2010

Con
1.The Michelin "ENERGY" tires are noisy above 60 mph, more so than the Dunlops:rolleyes:

2. The performance is clearly reduced with 8 sd tranny
and around town under 50 mph there are definite issues

3. It appears the body contour, maybe the windshield
creates more wind noise than the 2010 at highway speed.

4. The drive train seems totally isolated from the passenger cabin. This may be welcomed by some

5. The DIS directly in front of where you park your drink is a recipe for malfunction over time. Seems the touch screen is more intuitive.

6. The new head and tail lights are not a design triumph.

7. Steering feels heavier than the 2010.

Overall seems like the ZF transmission is the BIG edge in this matchup of 2010 vs 2012

Just one man's opinion;)
